Pavitra Creations began at a corner table at home, with wool scattered everywhere and Diwali two weeks away. We wanted a rangoli for our own doorstep, something that wouldn’t wash away on the first wet day or get swept up with the dust. So we made one out of leftover craft wool.
The neighbours asked where we bought it. Then their friends asked. That first festive season, every evening after dinner went into cutting, rolling and stitching petals. Slowly, boxes started leaving for Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, homes we have never seen but feel connected to anyway.
Nothing here is made in bulk. Each petal is rolled by hand, each bead stuck one at a time. It’s slower. It costs a little more. But when you open the box, you can tell someone made this, not a machine.
